GOLDFREN brake pads

Company

Goldfren
Goldfren commenced operations in 1991, manufacturing sintered disc brake pads for a wide range of both road and off-road motorcycle model applications. In the following 18 years they have become one of the largest aftermarket suppliers to world markets in this product sector.

Goldfren factory
During this period of evolution and growth in the commercial operations as a result of continuous heavy investment in R & D, they have successfully expanded their product range of sintered brake pads to incorporate aftermarket product to service the Aeronautical, Heavy-Duty Industrial Logistics Equipment (Lifting Cranes), Automotive Motorsport, Mountain Bike, and M/Cycle Motorsport Sidecar, commercial sales sectors.

Goldfren continues to invest heavily in product R & D to maintain development of “new generation” products and to maintain their position at the technological forefront of the Sintered Friction Braking Industry. By basing their manufacturing facility in the Czech Republic which is world renowned for its engineering excellence for more than 100 years, they are able to offer customers the perfect combination of world leading technology combined with a very competitive production cost base with complete confidence in the performance, durability, and reliability of the product.

Sinter, metal-ceramic friction materials are manufactured with the help of a modern method of powder metallurgy under the Goldfren mark. Proved manufacturing technology and essential quality control system ensure reaching required material properties, namely high thermal and mechanical endurance and high friction coefficient. These sinter, metal-ceramic friction materials are applied in various industrial branches, for example, car industry, engineering equipment, construction machines, aviation industry and sport purposes.

Sinter materials are characterised by high and permanent friction coefficient at temperatures up to 800 ° C, and thermal stability with minimum abrasion. Materials do not contain asbestos, glass fibre or formaldehydes, and are environmentally friendly. They can be used in dry oil bath. In comparison with organic friction materials, their service life is several times longer.

Materials

AD MATERIAL

Goldfren AD
Metal-ceramic, typical iron friction material designed for both dry and wet friction. Finer additives compared with K1 material are added to the base iron compound.
„AD” friction material is Lead and Asbestos free

• High static friction coefficient
• Good abrasive resistance
• High braking power to 500°C.
• Very good binding strength between copper lined steel base plate and friction layer
• Wearing rate by 20 % lower comparing with competitive sintered products of its category for common use
• Low abrasive interaction with the brake rotor material
• Three times longer operational life compared to organic and Kevlar composite materials

Range of Application

The material is suitable for dry and wet conditions for road and off-road motorcycles; in road motorcycle application suited both for front and rear brake while for off-roads they are recommending to use it for front brake
The material is designed for common road riding application

Material operating parameters

Specific pressure: P < 5.0 Mpa
Sliding speed: V < 40 m.s-1
Constant maximum temp.: 450°C
Short time maximum temp.: 700°C

K1 MATERIAL

Goldfren K1
Metal-ceramic friction material designed for friction on dry and wet conditions is produced applying advanced powder metallurgy method, which is a leader on sintered process field. Metal-ceramic material, K1, is a bronze-graphite friction material designed for wet friction applications. Coarser non-metallic friction additives are spread evenly in the base fine bronze body.

It suits for off-road motorcycles of a high service life in heavy duty drive surface conditions, e.g. sand, mud.

• High static friction coefficient
• High abrasive resistance
• High braking power to 450°C. (Max. 750°C.)
• Low abrasive interaction with the brake rotor material
• for a period of higher temperatures it is recommended to substitute it by K5 material
• A self-cleaning effect on muddy conditions
• Suitable for rear brake lining
• It is not recommended to use it for the front brake installed on road motorcycles, as well as off-road types
• Three times longer operational life compared to organic and Kevlar composite materials

Material operating parameters

Specific pressure: P < 3.5 Mpa
Sliding speed: V < 45 m.s-1
Constant maximum temp.: 450°C
Short time maximum temp.: 800°C

K5 MATERIAL

Goldfren K5
Metal-ceramic bronze-graphite friction material is an all-metal mixture designed for applications both on dry and wet conditions.
Finer metallic friction additives are spread evenly in the base fine bronze body.

• High static friction coefficient
• Good abrasive resistance, self cleaning capability
• High braking power to 500°C. (750°C. in bursts)
• Low abrasive interaction with the brake rotor material
• Three times longer operational life compared to organic and kevlar composite materials

Range of application

This material was developed for off-road races because it features long service life on heavy-duty drive tracks.
a) hot weather / dry - only rear brake
b) hard terrain - front and rear brake
The sintered materials feature self-cleaning effect.
The material may be used on rear brake of road racing motorcycles.

Material operating parameters

Specific pressure: P < 2.0 Mpa
Sliding velocity: V < 20 m.s-1
Constant maximum temp: 500°C
Short time maximum temp.: 750°C

S3 MATERIAL

Goldfren S3
Metal-ceramic friction material designed for friction on dry and wet conditions is produced applying advanced powder metallurgy method, which is a leader on sintered process field. Metal-ceramic material, S3, is a bronze-graphite friction material designed for wet friction applications. Coarser non-metallic friction additives are spread evenly in the base fine bronze body.

• Very high static friction coefficient
• Minimal difference between wet and dry braking performance
• Good abrasive resistance
• High braking power to 450° C. (Max. 800° C)
• Low abrasive interaction with the brake rotor material
• Longer life compared to organic and kevlar composite materials

Range of Application

The material is suitable for dry and wet conditions for road and off-road motorcycles; in road motorcycle application suited both for front and rear brake while for off-road it is recommended to use it for front brake.

Material operating parameters

Specific pressure: p < 3.0 Mpa
Sliding speed: V < 45 m.s-1
Constant maximum temp.: 450°C
Short time maximum temp.: 800°C
